WhatsApp has released its rumored WhatsApp Web support today. The service is currently available for Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia S60 running devices. Unfortunately, the iOS platform haven’t yet received the same.
WhatsApp Web client is currently only supported by Google Chrome browser and it allows you to receive and send messages on your PC. However, do note that you should have your WhatsApp installed device connected to the network to receive messages on PC.
WhatsApp Web client works as an extension and simply displays the messages on your PC’s browser while still depending on your smartphone’s WhatsApp application. If you want to try it out, checkout these simple steps given below.
Step 1: Uninstall WhatsApp from your Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and S60 running Smartphone.
Step 2: Download and Install the latest version of WhatsApp from the Google play store if you have Android device. You can also download the application directly to your supported smartphone from WhatsApp.com.
Step 3: Once installed, Open WhatsApp, and tap on Menu icon (three dots).
Step 4: Select WhatsApp Web from the options.
Step 5: Now go to web.Whatsapp.com on your PC (use Google Chrome).
Step 6: Next, you will see a QR Code. Simply point your WhatsApp running smartphone to the QR Code to perform the scan.
That’s it. Once you have successfully scanned the QR Code, you will see all your messages and contacts being listed on your Chrome browser with a WhatsApp interface. Now, if you want you can view and reply to the messages directly from your Chrome interface. However, do remember to keep your WhatsApp running device connected to the network.
Seems like the Web Client still needs some fine tuning as the Web interface wasn’t very smooth when receiving and replying to the messages (Tested with an Android device on Windows PC). Do try it and let us know your experience with it.
For now, the web client only supports the Google Chrome browser, however according to WhatsApp support for other browsers will be added soon.
